4th Street|Prater Way Bus RAPID Transit Project Weekly Update: May 19, 2017

Dear Stakeholder:
Below please find the project update for the week of May 15 and anticipated traffic control for the week of May 22, 2017.

May 2017 Business Spotlight: Scooper’s Drive-In

We support the businesses in the project area and encourage everyone to join us! To demonstrate this, the RTC project team will profile a neighborhood business within the corridor each month.

Sally and Michael Richards have been operating Scooper’s Drive-In since 1980.

Scooper’s Drive-In at 1356 Prater Way in Sparks is a local’s favorite for milkshakes, burgers and fries.  Sparks residents Sally Richards and her husband Michael have been serving their community since 1980. The biggest change they have seen in 37 years of business is the growth of Sparks and the surrounding area.  They are excited for the transformation of the corridor and the improved traffic operations in front of their drive-in restaurant when the RTC 4th/Prater Bus Rapid Transit Project is completed.

Traffic Control Week of May 22, 2017

Traffic control on Prater Way/4th Street between El Rancho Drive and Galletti Way includes lane reductions and a three-way stop east and westbound and at the I-80 westbound on and off ramps.  Traffic lights at I-80 eastbound on and off ramp are still functioning normally.

For the safety of drivers, riders and crews, RTC bus routes 2, 5, 11, 13, 15, 25 and 26 are detoured. Access rtcwashoe.com and click on Transit Alerts to sign up for the latest transit information. Detours will be in place throughout the summer.

Traffic control is in place on the west end of the project from Evans Avenue to Galletti Way. The south side of the roadway is closed for demolition and roadway reconstruction. Traffic is shifted to the north side of the roadway. One lane in each direction will be maintained. Business and residential access will be maintained.  Drivers can expect minor delays.

Possibly lane shifts with flagger on 4th Street near Ferrari Lane.

Utility exploration near 4th St./Prater Way and El Rancho later in the week.

Utility trenching near the I-80 off ramps.
