29 Apr 4th Street|Prater Way Bus RAPID Transit Project Weekly Update: April 28, 2017
Below please find the project update for the week of April 24 and anticipated traffic control for the week of May 1, 2017.
Planned Total Closure of Intersection of Rock Boulevard and Prater Way
The RTC is urging everyone to plan for delays when the intersection of Rock Boulevard and Prater Way is fully closed to all traffic. The intersection will close the night of Friday, April 28th and not reopen until the morning of Monday, May 1st. Detours will be in place, but traffic may be significant at times.
The work taking place is related to upgrading utilities and the storm drain system. The RTC is completing the work in cooperation with the City of Sparks and Truckee Meadows Water Authority. Nearby businesses will remain open and accessible throughout the work. The RTC has worked closely with the businesses. There will be a temporary water outage at night for one business and Deer Park – again, businesses will remain open.
The work taking place is part of a project to enhance safety and mobility on 4th Street in Reno and Prater Way in Sparks.
Traffic Control Week of May 1, 2017
Traffic will be one lane in each direction from Galletti Way to Ferrari Lane with flaggers. Westbound traffic will be on the north side of the roadway and eastbound traffic will be on the south side of the roadway.
Weather dependent, traffic control may include sidewalk closures, lane closures and minor detours.
The south side of the roadway is closed for demolition and roadway reconstruction from Pyramid Way west to El Rancho Drive. Businesses are still open. Traffic is shifted to the north side of the roadway. One lane in each direction will be maintained. Business and residential access will be maintained. Drivers can expect minor delays.
Traffic control is in place on the west end of the project from Evans Avenue to Galletti Way. The south side of the roadway is closed for demolition and roadway reconstruction. Traffic is shifted to the north side of the roadway. One lane in each direction will be maintained. Business and residential access will be maintained. Drivers can expect minor delays.
Traffic control on Prater Way/4th Street between El Rancho Drive and Galletti Way includes lane reductions and a flashing red, three-way stop east and westbound and at the I80 westbound on and off ramps. Traffic lights at I80 eastbound on and off ramp are still functioning normally.
Utility work on the east end of the project near 18th Street may require one lane closures on side streets with flaggers. Thru traffic will be maintained.
For the safety of drivers, riders and crews, RTC bus routes 2, 5, 11, 13, 15, 25 and 26 are detoured. Access RTC Transit Services for more information. Detours will be in place throughout the summer.
Traffic control and work zones will be in place and changing frequently. Use caution and look for flaggers for direction. Brief delays can be expected.
