Public Comments Sought on Bus Station Designs
Reno, NV (Feb. 23, 2015) – The RTC is welcoming the public’s comments on three design concepts for the 4th Street/Prater Way Corridor. Eight new stations are planned with four on each side of the corridor at the intersections of Sutro Street, Galletti Way, El Rancho Drive, and 15th Street. Two open house events will take place for people to share their comments on Tuesday, March 3. One open house will be 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The other will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Both will take place at RTC 4TH STREET STATION near Evans Avenue and 4th Street.
The 4th Street/Prater Way Bus RAPID Transit Project connects downtown Reno and Sparks with enhanced bus service, accessible sidewalks, and bike lanes. The project will help people better connect to economic and educational opportunities. Additionally, it will improve safety within the corridor and make it accessible to people of all abilities. In 2017, RTC will add four new electric buses to serve this route. This project received a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant in the amount of $16 million from the US Department of Transportation. The transit stations may include historical displays related to 4th Street and Prater Way.
