The 4th Street/Prater Way Bus RAPID Transit Project will connect downtown Reno and Sparks with enhanced bus rapid transit (RTC RAPID) service, accessible sidewalks, and bike lanes. The improved access to education and employment for low income residents make this project highly supportive of economic competiveness, sustainability and quality of life.
On November 1, 2013 the Nevada Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration provided approval of the project’s Programmatic Categorical Exclusion (CE). The Federal Transit Administration provided approval of the CE in February 2014. In April, RTC submitted an application to the U.S. Department of Transportation for funding through the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) discretionary grant program. TIGER funding for project construction would support economic growth in the Reno-Sparks metropolitan region. The grant application files are available through the links below.
